“Appearing for an interview with Fatbrain.com, he wore a faded
Linux T-shirt, jeans, Teva sandals and protruding white socks.
Linus Torvalds may look just like another programmer, but he’s the
creator of an OS that just might topple the Microsoft empire.

“Over lunch, he explained why he created Linux, how the
revolution has affected him and his hopes for the future…”

“I created Linux, more because I thought it was fun. If I hadn’t
done it, I probably would have graduated three years earlier. But
when I had graduated where would I have gone? I’d just be a
programmer somewhere. I probably would have been a reasonably good
one, but I wouldn’t have had a name, so I wouldn’t have been able
to select what I wanted to do.

“I didn’t make much money off of it, but I can do whatever I
want to do.”
