Vladimir Vuksan has written in with the following text:

I tried checking out webturbotax.com just to see if I might file my taxes on-line when I encountered following message:

WebTurboTax requires the Macintosh, Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 operating system and one of the following browsers:

For Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT 4.0:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01

Netscape Navigator/Communicator 4.x

For Macintosh:

Netscape Navigator/Communicator 4.x

Please install one of these browsers and try again.

Your current browser is:
Browser: Netscape
Version: 4.5 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.0.35 i586)
OS : LinuxELF2.0

I suppose somebody in the Intuit IT department decided that an "untested" browser might send corrupted data to their server. It might be a good idea to flood them with e-mail explaining politely why this is a bad idea. Supposedly Kiplinger allows 1040EZ filing over the web at

http://www.kiplinger.com/software/

but I didn't have the time to check if they also have such silly blocks.

P.S. This is a service that might potentially be used by thousands of Linux users.

Update:

I tried Kiplinger's web site http://www.kiplinger.com/software/ (they make TaxCut, alternative to TurboTax) and they don't have any restrictions on the type of browser used.
