"ISP Psinet has given the emerging application service provider market a major boost with the launch of a global hosting centre..."

" 'The centre will be a hybrid facility offering hosting to both telcos and our own ISP customers,' said Valerie Holt, vice president of Psinet. 'We are trying to physically prepare them for the same kind of uplift in ability that was provided by the silicon chip.' "

"The centre will host applications on NT, Linux, and Unix servers from HP. Three levels of server will all have mirrored or RAID 5 grade disks or better. Customers will typically buy into a service that provides a bandwidth of 128Kbps, with allowable burst traffic of up to 10Mbps."
