(Other stories by Shawn Langlois)

"The Linux craze that reached a fever pitch with Red Hat's (RHAT: news, msgs) IPO earlier this month has again become a hot topic on the message boards. Shares of Applix (APLX: news, msgs) soared as high as 24 11/16 on Monday before settling back to a close of 18 5/8, up 13 percent. Momentum has been building for the small software developer since Wall Street began to pay close attention to Applix's Linux business last week. As the stock's two-day tear continued, the boards were buzzing."

"Deadbeef, on Raging Bull, was one satisfied customer: 'I have been using Applixware for Linux for some time and have to say that this suite of products is superior to that of its competitors. MS file formats for documents, spreadsheets and presentations (.ppt) can be directly imported into Applixware. Further, it is a true joy to be able to do work without worrying about the 'blue screen of death' thanks to Linux's stability.'"
