Ottawa Citizen: Give Corel time to exploit Linux: analyst

"The Ottawa company announced on Wednesday that it expects to report a loss of about 14 cents U.S. a share on about $61 million U.S. in revenues for the quarter ended Nov. 30. The official release date for the actual numbers is Jan. 18...."

"Amid concern that Corel is focusing too much on Linux, the company's president and chief executive, Michael Cowpland, stoked speculation on that front after he was quoted saying that Corel's non-Linux products are becoming "less and less significant...."

"In terms of over-emphasis, it is a tendency of Cowpland to focus on the newest area that they are entering and to talk up the potential that's there," said Jean Orr, an analyst with Bluestone Capital Partners LP in New York."
