Linux.com: Descent Reviewed

"We've all heard of the game: Descent. In fact, the latest craze from Interplay is Descent 3D, a brand new DirectX 3D engine combined with the same play-style and maze-like worlds of the original game. But who cares? They're not releasing it for Linux. What Interplay did do, though, is release the source code (minus the third-party sound and network/modem drivers) for Descent 1. Immediately following the release of the source, the Linux Descent project was formed on muppetlabs.com."

"The last release from this project was 0.21 (0.21 seems to have disappeared - I swear I saw it somewhere) and proved to be fairly unstable. Soon after, the D1X project was formed and they have produced a fantastic port that runs almost flawlessly in Linux and DOS while adding several enhancements. You'll find all the information you need for the D1X project at their homepage."
