VNUNet: Linux users petition manufacturers for desktop compatibility

" Thousands of users have signed a petition to try and pressurise manufacturers to make Linux compatible device drivers available alongside Microsoft Windows based ones."

"The petition organisers... hope to drum up two million signatures... When the target is reached, the petition will be presented to the major producers of PC devices, which will be asked to make specifications available to Linux developers, so they can include support in their applications."

The company said: 'Linux users can now enjoy high-quality output from the Minolta Pagepro 8, 18 and 25 printers. The usability advantage of Linux is naturally dependent on compatible output devices so that documents generated within the system can be printed for external recipients.' "
