VARBusiness: E-Commerce Software Is Industry Sweet Spot

"For the first half of the year, VARs said they expect e-commerce to bolster software sales growth in the small- and midsize-company market with Windows 2000 also kicking in, according to data from the January CRN reseller software poll.

An impressive 49 percent of VARs surveyed by CRN last month said they expect sales of e-commerce software to increase more than 10 percent in the February to April period. This is the fifth straight monthly increase in this figure, unprecedented in the more than five years CRN has been conducting its monthly VAR surveys. "

" 'I think you will see a big battle this year between Windows 2000 and Linux,' said O.U.8.1.2. Studio's Lawson. 'Smaller customers are increasingly attracted to Linux, partly because of its leaner processor and memory requirements.' "
