Fragbait.com: An Interview with Sam Lantinga, Lead Programmer of Loki Games

Mar 18, 2000, 16:10 (1 Talkback[s])

"Todays interview is with Sam Lantinga, Lead Programmer of Loki Games. Who you ask? Loki Games is responsible for the Linux ports of Civilization: Call to Power, Heroes of Might and Magic III, Railroad Tycoon II, Heretic II, Myth II, Eric's Ultimate Solitaire, and of course Quake III Arena. Currently they are working on Heavy Gear II, and Soldier of Fortune...."

"GF: What was the most difficult game to port?"

"SL: The most challenging port for Loki to date has been Heavy Gear II, which involved contracting for compiler enhancements, a brand new audio API, and adding OpenGL and joystick support to SDL."

"GF: How many games would you like to port this year?"

"SL: The question should be "how many games do you think you can port this year?" Loki is officially targetting 16 titles this year. I think we'll get close to, or possibly exceed that target."
