Visionyze.com: Speedware's Visionyze.com to Develop Open Source OLAP Engine on Linux Platform

Mar 28, 2000, 04:17 (1 Talkback[s])

"New open source OLAP engine to become industry standard for business intelligence solutions."

"Visionyze.com, a division of Speedware Corporation, today announced that it will develop an open source version of its Hybrid Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) technology on the Linux platform. The Company believes this new open source OLAP engine, the backbone of the company's Media and Esperant tools and its suite of analytic applications, will become the industry standard for business intelligence solutions used by Linux-based companies. The initial release of the open source engine will be available by October 2000."

"The OLAP engine is the heart of business intelligence software, allowing this software to define, organize, order, and process an enterprise's stored data, and enables users to present data for the purposes of business analysis, reporting and strategic decision-making. Unlike standard OLAP engines, which rely solely on a multi-dimensional database, Visionyze.com's Hybrid - OLAP (HOLAP) extends the access of its multi-dimensional database to detailed transaction records available in relational data sources, making it one of the only true HOLAP engines in the business intelligence market. The company has devoted ten years of research and development to create an engine that delivers lightning-fast response times, even with large data volumes."
