Reuters: Netscape comes out swinging with new browser

"America Online Inc. on Wednesday unveiled the first major upgrade of the Netscape browser software in years and said it would be willing to use it in its online services if the Federal anti-trust case against Microsoft Corp. cleared the way."

"'If the little matter with Microsoft is resolved and we were allowed to carry the browser of choice, we'd use the Gecko technology,' said Barry Schuler, president of interactive services for AOL, which bought Netscape last year."

"The faster and smaller so-called "Gecko" technology is the core of Netscape 6, the latest version of the Web-browsing software."
