"Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) and the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) have introduced an add-on to the Apache HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) server that officials said will provide an estimated nine million users unprecedented control of information on the Web."

"The mod_dav module, authored by one of the ASF's volunteer contributors, adds WebDAV capabilities to the Apache's Open Source HTTP server. With this addition, the ASF said that users can benefit from a more secure, efficient, and extensible server environment."
