In 0.5.8, two new drivers were added: the C-Media CMI8338 and 8738 PCI driver and the Yamaha YMF72x,74x,75x driver. These releases add support for many users that have on-board Yamaha sound (on many Intel motherboards), and APM support is further supported. The 0.5.8 release also contains bug fixes including support for the latest Linux kernels. In 0.5.8a, a bug fix for the latest 2.3 and 2.4-test kernels was released. In addition, the Yamaha YMF724F driver was fixed." "To get the latest ALSA driver, visit their web site at http://www.alsa-project.org. You can download the ALSA driver from their FTP server at ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/. The latest drivers and utilities are available in bzip2 format, which is a standard Linux compression utility. You will need to download the latest ALSA driver, utilities, and library in order to have a full, working ALSA sound system." Related Stories:
