Jul 06, 2000, 21:30 (6 Talkback[s])

"Inprise/Borland's forthcoming Delphi for Linux (code-named "Kylix") development tool, scheduled to be released in fall 2000, will have cross-platform capabilities that will enable Visual Basic–trained developers to create applications in the Windows environment for Linux operating systems, the company has announced."

"This will become the only credible rapid application development [RAD] tool that will support cross-platform Windows and Linux development," said Ben Riga, Inprise/Borland's Director of Product Management. "Delphi has always provided strong support for Windows, and developers using it are also on a fast track to Linux."

"Riga said that Inprise/Borland is responding to a perceived strong demand from VB developers to gain Linux development capabilities."
