"VA Linux Systems, Inc. today announced its successful
collaboration with HP in launching the first Open Source Printing
Summit. The Open Source Printing Summit was held recently in
Sunnyvale, California, bringing together more than ten vendors and
over fifteen major Open Source projects for an historic two-day
industry conference."
"Participants included developers and representatives of
companies such as HP, VA Linux, IBM, Sun, Canon, Epson, Lexmark,
Okidata, Xerox and Microsoft, as well as developers from Samba,
Ghostscript, LPRng, CUPS, PDQ, GPR, SysAPS, Linux
Internationalization Initiative (Li18nux), XFree86, GIMP, GNOME,
KDE, SourceForge, Red Hat, SuSE, the Linux Documentation Project
and the IETF-Printing Working Group."
"The Open Source Printing Summit was sponsored by HP and VA as
part of the Open Source Printing Project
(printing.sourceforge.net), which has been gaining momentum since
its launch on VA Linux Systems' SourceForge earlier this year.
Since January, VA Linux Professional Services has been working
with HP to improve HP LaserJet printer support under Linux and
Samba, and to advance the quality and functionality of Open Source
printing overall."
