SF Gate: Apple alums to unveil new firm's product at LinuxWorld

"Nearly 20 years after they introduced computing to the masses, three Apple Computer alums are hoping for a repeat performance."

"Mike Boich, Bud Tribble and Andy Hertzfeld, all of whom played an important role in developing the revolutionary Macintosh user interface, will debut the first product to come out of their new firm, Eazel, this Tuesday at the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in San Jose."

"That product is a snazzy new interface for the GNU/Linux computing platform, a freely distributed operating system created by a loosely organized group of programmers."

"Eazel's Nautilus 1.0 file manager and system management interface promises to make that tech-heavy GNU/Linux operating system, and its complementary GNOME desktop program, accessible to the average computer user, on par with the Microsoft or Apple experience. Many in the Linux world feel it represents the most viable challenge yet to Microsoft Corp.'s Windows juggernaut."
