IBM developerWorks: Glibc Test Tool

Oct 08, 2000, 12:38 (1 Talkback[s])

[ Thanks to Sammy for this link. ]

"The Glibc Test Tool has been developed to examine the internationalization (I18N) APIs provided by Glibc. When the I18N APIs are working properly, Glibc-based applications that cater to the global market can be developed quickly and made simultaneously available, worldwide. This test tool will accelerate the market-readiness of Linux applications, which is crucial to Linux's future success in all arenas."

"The tool focuses on the I18N APIs defined in the X/Open Portability Guide Issue4 (XPG4), ISO/IEC 9899 amendment 1, ISO/IEC 9945-1 (POSIX.1), and ISO/IEC 9945-2 (POSIX.2), all of which are officially supported by Glibc."

"The tool is automated through the use of answer files, where the test cases and expected results are predefined. This approach eliminates the prerequisite for testers with special linguistic skills. Within a matter of minutes, the tool tests approximately 100 APIs with several hundred parameters and identifies the problematic APIs. The answer file is scalable and customizable, so you can add test cases for a particular application to your test suite."
