LinuxPR: Version 3.1 of Open CASCADE 3D Modeling Components Now Available

"Just seven months after the release of the Open CASCADE Certified Version 3.0, Certified Version 3.1 has been thoroughly beta-tested by ten industrial and research users of Open CASCADE and is available for free downloading at http://www.opencascade.com. The components can also be ordered through the site on CD-ROM. Presenting expanded data export format capabilities and notable enhancements in ease of use, this new version was developed following feedback and suggestions from Version 3.0 users. It is proof of the vitality of on-going projects based on Open CASCADE and demonstrates the growing interest in these open-source 3D modeling components.

Open CASCADE Certified Version 3.1 offers new data exchange possibilities that allow translating Open CASCADE shapes to STL format for generating stereolithograpy data and to VRML format for use in virtual reality applications, while Visual C++ projects enable developers to compile Open CASCADE data for use on Windows platforms. An HPGL2 file output format for plotters is also included.
