After some last minute technical difficulties, we are proud to
finally announce the release of GNOME 1.4 "Tranquility".

This release includes a number of fixes and doc and translation
updates relative to RC1. It also excludes Medusa; a number of problems
were discovered at the last minute.

Martin Baulig has put together a new web page for downloading GNOME, and
it is available at http://download.gnome.org/. This has pointers to all
of the mirrors. This release is available in the
GNOME/stable/releases/gnome-1.4/ subdirectory.

Also available at this time is the GNOME Fifth Toe 1.4 RC 1 release,
which is a collection of additional packages that are not part of the
core desktop but are designed to work well with gnome. They are
available from the GNOME/stable/releases/gnome-fifth-toe-1.4/
subdirectory.

Congratulations to the cast of hundreds that made GNOME 1.4
possible.

Love,

The GNOME 1.4 Release Team:
