With the departure of Eazel and the inability of anyone to make
a buck on selling a desktop-oriented Linux distribution, it's time
to write the obituary for Linux on the desktop -- or at least admit
that it's unlikely that Linux world domination via the desktop will
occur any time soon. Instead, writes Kevin Reichard, we should take
joy that Linux has become a valuable and essential server operating
system, and that when planning for the future we should build on
that success, rather than lamenting the demise of Linux on the
desktop.
