May 22, 2001, 16:18 (15 Talkback[s])
Trolltech has released beta 1 of Qt 3.0, its C++ GUI toolkit, the foundation of the K Desktop Environment.

Qt 3.0 will be released under one of three licenses: Commercial, for developers who want to develop commercial software; Academic, for educational institutions who want to teach Qt on platforms that would otherwise require a Commercial license; and GPL for Free Software developers.

New capabilities the company names (listed more fully below) are: database support; data-aware widgets that provide automatic synchronization between the GUI and the underlying database; a new version of Qt Designer that has become a full-function GUI builder; and comprehensive internationalization.

LinuxProgramming has the download link and new features/known bugs lists.
