Moshe Bar touches briefly on how to use procmail and Festival to
create a voice e-mail announcement system, discusses VMWare vs.
Win4Lin, and recommends some summer reading.
"Finally the summer has arrived (well, at least for us
in the northern hemisphere)! In this time of the year many start to
prepare their summer vacations. It's during my annual six-week
summer holiday that I catch up with culture, sports, and required
reading. I also use this time for "fun" projects and a bit of
exploration.
One of the "fun" things I did last year in my summer holiday was
install a mail server that would read to me aloud the sender and
subject of incoming e-mails through the speakers inside and outside
my summer house. I like to stay outside and tend to the flowers and
vegetables while listening to music, but at the same time I don't
want to miss urgent e-mails (like the monthly reminders to send in
the column by our boss here at Byte.com, Daniel Dern :))."
