LinuxPR: Gnustep, Mozilla, KDE, PHP and Gnome to hold developers meetings during FOSDEM Conference

Jan 17, 2002, 21:58 (2 Talkback[s])
"Brussels, Belgium December 17, 2001 The FOSDEM orgnization is pleased to announce that the Gnustep, Mozilla, KDE, PHP and Gnome will have developers meetings in Brussels during the FOSDEM meeting that will take place 16 and 17 February 2002.

The goal of this GNUstep developers session is to get to known each other (human networking doesn't do any harm, exchange our experience and knowledge, learn about unknown aspects of GNUstep (there are still things you don't know, do you ?), speak about where we are and where we want to go. And, above all, have fun! All the leading developers will attend this forum so this is a great opportunity to learn more about GNUstep right from the source. The suggested conferences are not expected to be a "one-to-many" kind of talk but rather something like an introductory talk by the speaker for a couple of minutes and then an open discussion with the other developers. Said Dennis Leeuw from the Gnustep project "Raphaël contacted me last year to help him to organize the first edition of the FOSDEM. I helped it because I knew that the idea behind FOSDEM was really to promote the Free Software spirit. The organisation of so many developers meetings confirm that I was right. Think Free!" said Damien Sandras from the GnomeMeeting project

'We are honored that main Free Software projects have decided to have a developers meeting during the FOSDEM event. It was really an amazing surprise when some of the main Free Software projects asked us if it would be possible to havea developers meeting during the event. For the FOSDEM organization it is the recognition that the directions chosen by the FOSDEM are aligned with what can expected from such an event. The FOSDEM's goal is to build community programs to support development in key technology areas for both Free and Open Source Software, as well as outreach programs to introduce both individuals and corporations to Free Software development and the benefits of Free Software solutions,' said Raphel Bauduin, one of the FOSDEM organizers."
