"Christian: People have been very happy about the GNOME 2 version of Nautilus, especially the significant speedups. Is the performance where you want it now, or are there still major areas of improvement in your view?

"Alexander: Nautilus performance is now at a level where it is usable on most machines, but it is still not as fast as I want. As we eliminate performance issues it gets harder and harder to increase performance though, so we'll see how it goes. At least the latest cvs version feels faster.

"Dave: I think the 2.2 branch is a bit quicker, with the icon themes and the new canvas. There is more that can be done, but I think most of the low-hanging fruit has been taken care of..."
