"Lubos Lunak continued the audit, focussing on the string
handling routines. The number of commits decreased as each system
call or string call was examined. The end seems near. This audit
has resulted in hundreds of lines of code changed throughout the
codebase. Will these changes introduce unstability or change in
function? Hopefully not, but we will see when release candidate 6
comes out. The security fixes have been backported to the KDE 3.0.x
releases and some to the 2.2 release.

use. Many bugs have been fixed and backported to the 3.1 release
tree..."
