"Mary Ann Fisher is speaking at an open source seminar for
government CIOs in Canberra tomorrow, which is being organised by
the National Office for the Information Economy and will also
feature speakers from Microsoft, Gartner and the Australian Unix
Users Group.
"Ms Fisher said the federal Government's endorsement of the open
source operating system as an option for government agencies and
its approach to sharing information on Linux, and tomorrow's forum
were examples of its strategic approach to government IT
infrastructure.
"'There are a handful of governments that are bringing together
consolidated representatives... on the whole, thought, focus and
strategy area, Australia is a leader,' Ms Fisher said..."
