"The desktop market has so far been the monopoly of Microsoft.
But things are changing.
"Says Amit Bhoraskar, manager--channels for Red Hat India, a
Linux vendor: 'By December 2003 we expect the Linux operating
system to be installed in two lakh desktop personal computers in
India.'
"That would mean that, of the MAIT projected sales of 2 million
desktop PCs in India, Linux would have a market share of 10 per
cent in the desktop segment..."
