"Last week at the Desktop Linux Summit, Lindows.com, Inc. announced, the release of their first Lindows laptop--the mobile PC which will retail for $799, or $200 cheaper than Apple's entry-level 700 MHz iBook...

"'Until now, laptop computers have been either too expensive or too heavy to be useful for most consumers,' Lindows CEO Michael Robertson commented 'PDAs are also a problem because they don't offer many features. The Lindows Mobile PC is a powerful machine that can go anywhere you want to take it.'

"At 2.9 pounds, the Lindows Mobile PC is definitely an affordable ultra-light laptop, but does it offer as good a value as a new $999 iBook or even a $799 or $899 refurbished Apple machine...?"
