Release Digest: GNU, July 22, 2003

Jul 23, 2003, 05:00 (0 Talkback[s])

help2man 1.33.1

Overview

`help2man' is a tool for automatically generating simple manual pages from program output.

It is intended to provide an easy way for software authors to include a manual page in their distribution without having to maintain that document.

Given a program which produces resonably standard `--help' and `--version' outputs, `help2man' will attempt to re-arrange that output into something which resembles a manual page.

Availability

The current version is available from:

ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/help2man/

News

  • Support for generating localised manual pages has been added (--locale option). Currently supported locales are French and Polish.
  • Check for errors writing to output page.

Radius 1.1

Hello,

GNU Radius 1.1 is released. This is a maintenance release over the previous version 1.0, incorporating several new features.

GNU Radius is a set of tools for remote user authentication and accounting. The package includes server daemon, various client utilities, and a set of administrator tools.

For more information on Radius, including links to file downloads, please see the Radius web page: http://www.gnu.org/software/radius and the Radius project page http://savannah.gnu.org/projects/radius.

GNU Radius is available from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/radius and and the mirror sites worldwide (see http://www.gnu.org/order/ftp.html for the list of those).

The MD5 checksums of the files are:

78ac1582afaee5ca438841eb28c1e7ce radius-1.1.tar.gz
71f58a81c47d99592a8e6f2a0833565a radius-1.1.tar.bz2

The list of user-visible changes follows:

  • Bugfixes:
    • Do not stop decoding of the incoming request upon encountering of an unknown or malformed attribute ('no Acct-Status-Record bug').
    • Makefile.am's fixed to allow for `make DESTDIR=whatever install'.
    • Close stdout when running Acct-Ext-Program, so that its eventual output does not disturb the main process.
    • Fixed extended request comparison.
    • Fixed bug in hints processing that caused coredumps if the hints entry attempted to replace the first attribute in the request.
  • New features:
    • Caching of the results of SQL queries during authentication and accounting.
    • Strings in raddb/config may contain escaped characters. This is useful mainly for username-chars statement.
    • Test shell significantly improved.

Regards,
Sergey
