From the Contributor:

The Serial ATA (SATA) Linux status report details the status of support for drivers, hardware, and SATA features in current Linux kernels.

This update includes additional information on command queueing (a.k.a. TCQ), as well as minor SATA driver updates.

Recent SATA driver changes continue to focus on updating the SATA driver core to be more flexible, adding infrastructure to support SMART and other commands, and support newer SATA-II host controllers. These changes aren't very visible, but they lay the groundwork for a more flexible ATA hardware interface, one that supports queueing.

Most recently, work has been going on in three specific areas: SMART and arbitrary ATA command execution, AHCI host controller support, ATAPI (CD/DVD) support, and much improved error recovery for all levels (host, bus, device, OS...).
