Overview of Changes in GNOME CPUFreq Applet 0.2.1
Thanks to Alan Swanson, Dominik Brodowski, Marius Gedminas, etc. for bug reporting Additional NotesThe applet is now able to change the CPU frequency. To do that, a generic command line tool will be installed, and the applet will use it. Since it's needed to be root to change the CPU frequency, the command line tool will be installed suid root. But, this default behavior could be altered by passing arguments to the configure script. If you don't want to install the command line tool, you can use -- disable-frequency-selector If you want to install the command line tool, but you don't want it suid root, you can use --enable-suidno Tarballs can be downloaded from http://carlosgc.linups.org/files/gnome-cpufreq-applet/gnome-cpufreqapplet -0.3.tar.gz CVS http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/gnome-cpufreq-applet/ GNOME CPUFreq Applet is currently being packaged as part of Debian Unstable http://packages.debian.org/unstable/gnome/gnome-cpufreq-applet.html Screeshots http://carlosgc.linups.org/files/gnome-cpufreq-applet/shots/ Bugs can be reported to carlosgc gnome org Suggestions, patches, comments, etc can be sent to carlosgc gnome org GNOME Fileshttp://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php?soft_id=3D71
-- libxklavier 1.04Another stable release of the X Keyboard utility library is out. This release is mostly bugfix. Some compilation problems on non-linux systems are resolved - and a small attempt to resolve some runtime problems was made (without breaking compatibility - more stuff will go into the devel branch to be started soon). Some memory leaks are cleaned up (thanks to kmaraas and valgrind). The only non-bugfix change is introduction of some simple test apps into the package - useful for debugging and as examples. As usual, the release can be taken either from CVS (branch b_1_00) or from Sourceforge.Net: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=319&package_id=49313&release_id=272145 I encourage everyone using earlier stable versions of this library to upgrade. Sergey PyGTK 2.4.0I am pleased to announce version 2.4.0 of the Python bindings for GTK. The new release is available from ftp ftp.gnome.org as and its mirrors as soon as its synced correctly: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/pygtk/2.4/pygtk-2.4.0.tar.gz It might take a while, so please be patient. What's new since 2.2.0 Wrapping for new objects in Gtk+ 2.4.0:
GtkFileChooser, GtkUIManager (and action/toolbar api), GtkTreeModelFilter,
GtkComboBox, GtkCellLayout. Examples for a few of them can be found in the tarball.
Thanks to (this release would not have been possible without you!): Blurb: GTK is a toolkit for developing graphical applications that run on POSIX systems such as Linux, Windows and MacOS X (provided that the X server for MacOS X has been installed). It provides a comprehensive set of GUI widgets, can display Unicode bidi text. It links into the Gnome Accessibility Framework through the ATK library. PyGTK provides a convenient wrapper for the GTK+ library for use in Python programs, and takes care of many of the boring details such as managing memory and type casting. When combined with PyORBit and gnome-python, it can be used to write full featured Gnome applications. Like the GTK+ library itself PyGTK is licensed under the GNU LGPL, so is suitable for use in both free software and proprietary applications. It is already in use in many applications ranging from small single purpose scripts up to large full features applications. PyGTK requires GTK+ >= 2.4 and Python >= 2.3 to build. Bug reports, as always, should go to Bugzilla; check out http://pygtk.org/developer.html and http://pygtk.org/feedback.html for links to posting and querying bug reports for PyGTK.
-- Gnome 2.6 for AIX 5We have ported Gnome 2.6 to AIX 5. I know this can sound a bit strange as Gnome 2.8 sources are available, but there you have a complete set of packages (binary and sources, including devel) of Gnome 2.6 ready to install and use on AIX 5 (from AIX 5.1 to 5.3), on the Bull freeware site : http://www.bullfreeware.com/ and clik in the left tab on Gnome Enjoy. Please feedback if any issue is found. Jean-Pierre DION Unix/Linux Competence Center MlView 0.7.0Hi all, After nearly 5 months of development, here is a new version of MlView the GNOME XML editor !
