"dW: And this announcement that we're making
today, I understand that it's a major announcement. Is there
something that you could compare it to, to help us put it into
context?
"Handy: Well, each announcement is different. I
would have to say that this announcement is terminally unique in
the sense that we have done so much for Linux--so to take it to yet
another level was quite a challenge. But we have. And I think it's
the result of the fact that we have always viewed Linux as
something that was bigger than just an operating system. And so I
guess the best way to compare this is to 2001's 'Mach 1'
announcement of the eServer line, when we rebranded everything
under eServer; we said then that Linux would be a unifying
operating system across those environments. And we have done that
already, and what this program does is automate that for ISVs, so
that they can have a single application that runs across the entire
eServer line..."
