Hooker: Teaching Free Software In Schools/Colleges

"As more companies are moving towards open source and free software programming practices, I was thinking about how schools and 6th Form colleges could teach programming students the benefits of developing free software, over propietary applications--without being too biased.

"As a univeristy student that does a lot of programming, I really don't see the benefits of doing the same assignments over and over again. We get given the spec... we plan it, code it, document it, and test it... over and over again..."
