Ubuntu’s Jono Bacon: Priority Should Begin at Security, then Quality, then Performance
Jul 08, 2009, 18:32 (0 Talkback[s])
"Q. Ubuntu has become a global brand that is spoken in the same
sentence of its well-established competitors. How has security and
quality scaled as Ubuntu’s size has grown?
"Ubuntu takes quality and security very seriously. We’ve
seen extensive growth in the user base, customers and community
contributors, and my role as community manager is there to ensure
that our community scales as Ubuntu grows in other areas.
"On one hand, we have definitive processes to manage security
expectations including our Bug Triage best practice, our Stable
Release Update policy, our ‘proposed’ updates and more.
However, Ubuntu’s code security is not primarily managed by a
community manager. It’s largely the domain of our Security
Team and they have handled the expectations and responsibilities
well.
