"Continuing its bid to promote Linux servers, IBM Corp. announced Wednesday that it has new hardware and software enhancements for its S/390 enterprise servers and a revised price plan." "In a related announcement, Computer Associates International Inc. (CA), joining IBM in its effort to expand the use of Linux on host systems, announced that it has ported a suite of Internet-based business management software to Linux on the S/390." "On its part, CA announced it has ported several network and business management applications to run on Linux on the S/390. The software, to be rolled out beginning in the third quarter, includes: Unicenter TNG Agents and Framework software, designed to provide network management and monitoring capabilities; the MasterIT Web server monitoring package; the Ingres II relational database; the ARCserve storage management application; and eTrust security software.
