Enterprise Linux Today: IBM and SAP announce on Linux for eServer zSeries

"With a live demonstration of large-scale Linux use, IBM and SAP AG (NYSE ADR: SAP) today announced plans to deliver the e-business platform on Linux for the IBM eServer zSeries with shipment to first customers in the second quarter of 2001."

"Since early 1999, SAP has successfully supported Linux as a mature, reliable operating system for e-business solutions" says Karl-Heinz Hess, member of the SAP Extended Executive Board. "With IBM supporting Linux on the eServer zSeries, customers now benefit immediately from the availability of on this hardware platform. The early SAP commitment to Linux proves to be the right decision."

"By offering on both Linux and z/OS on the zSeries platform, IBM and SAP will provide customers with the opportunity to select the appropriate application server environment with respect to their needs.
