Matteo Dell'Omodarme covers the installation and performance of
three journaling filesystems for Linux: ext3, ReiserFS, and XFS. He
comes out in favor of ReiserFS because he found it to be the most
stable of the three filesystems.
"There are at present time at least two robust and reliable
journalling filesystems for Linux (i.e. XFS and reiserFS) which can
be utilized without fear. ext3 is still an alpha release and can
undergo several failures. I had some problems using bonnie++ on
this filesystem: the system reported some VM errors and killed the
shell I was using."
"Considering the benchmark results my advice is to install a
reiserFS filesystem in the future (I'll surely do it)."
