Almost replacing Word with StarOffice

Dec 28, 1998, 17:12 (6 Talkback[s])

The vicissitudes of trying to convert an office to Linux and StarOffice and then having to convert back. Important reading.

"The straws which broke the camel's back were that: (1) SLLF had handed a disk to an associate for editing, and had it returned with a Word Macro Virus thoughtfully added. In the process of discovering and eradicating the virus, the NT server did several weird things, and it was discovered that Word/Win311 had been locking up occasionally and corrupting files..."

"I suggested that it might be worth investigating StarOffice on Linux as a replacement for their word-processing system..."

Complete story.
