The Linux Institute: A community project to develop professional certification for Linux

Jan 31, 1999, 16:29 (8 Talkback[s])

"A group of people (myself included) have been working for some months, on a program that would allow Linux skills to be certified by a community body -- like the Novell CNE scheme, but with differences that make it uniquely Unix-like. This project is now ready to go public, asking for further community support while it refines the program.

"Note: we are fully aware of the debate, in which one side claims Linux does not need certification at all. We are fully aware that this program is not for everyone, but that it attempts to serve that portion of the Linux community to which certification is important. We believe the existence of a trusted certification program will increase Linux's acceptance within the business computing mainstream." -- Evan Leibovitch
