Business Wire: Synopsys VCS Simulator to Support Linux OS;

Mar 29, 1999, 18:28 (0 Talkback[s])

"Synopsys Inc., the design technology leader for complex integrated circuit (IC) design, today announced that its VCS(TM) product, the market leading high-performance Verilog simulator, will support the Linux operating system (OS) provided by Red Hat Software for the Intel-based workstation platform."

The Linux port of VCS is presently available to qualified customers for beta testing and is scheduled for first commercial release in July 1999. In addition to the VCS port, Synopsys is porting its CoverMeter(TM) code coverage tool to Linux, which will also be available in July 1999. Customers with "simulation farm" environments will benefit from the greater choice in operating systems."

"I was delighted with how quickly and smoothly VCS came up on Linux," said Lee Jones, member of the technical staff of the Computer Systems Business Unit at Silicon Graphics, Inc. "We are very pleased that Synopsys responded to our request. Our initial testing of this version indicates that VCS on Linux is rock solid and ready for production work."
