CRN: Silicon Graphics To Roll Out Integrated Linux Server Line

"Silicon Graphics Chairman and Chief Executive Rick Belluzzo said in addition to selling Linux servers, the company plans to contribute components of its technology to the open-source-code model, including OpenGL, the company's graphics library technology."

"The company already is talking with companies in the Linux vendor community, including Red Hat Software Inc., Durham, N.C., said Red Hat Chief Executive Robert Young. However, the two companies have not signed a formal agreement yet."

"Silicon Graphics is interested in the open-source model for three basic reasons, Belluzzo said."
