LinuxPR: Linux & Samba Server running from Flash-ROM
Aug 25, 1999, 11:55 (0 Talkback[s])
"A new Linux & Samba based file, print & CD Server that
runs entirely from an 8Mb Flash-ROM was released today."
"The Server, dubbed the "PizzaBox Server"
because an early prototype was built into a Pizza Hut take out box,
not only offers File, Print & CD Services but supports tape
backup, UPS monitoring, hardware monitoring, remote access and has
a sophisticated Web management interface."
"The Server will be sold to resellers and end users as a fully
functional server and can be sold to system builders in kit form.
It runs either from standard Compact Flash or M-Systems
Disk-on-Chip. It does not grab RAM to unzip into but, unusually,
runs directly from the Flash. The entire system is just over
6Mb."
