LinuxPR: The Linux Show!! announces new Internet partnership.

Dec 02, 1999, 22:00 (0 Talkback[s])

"Jeff Gerhardt, Co-host of the Linux Show!! today announced,"a partnership has been struck to offer a new service to the Linux Community. This partnership is with a consortium of ISPs across the country that will offer a Linux Friendly National Dial Up Service. The ISP that will manage the program is our broadcasting partner, Pinnacle Internet. This service will directly impact the growth of the Linux Community, as the consortium is staffing up for the support of Linux based connectivity issues. We do not anticipate this support service being a big issue with the present state of the Linux community(for most savvy geeks setting up PPP is pretty simple), but will have a greater impact on newbies who start using Linux as the community evolves into the desktop space."

"Our (the Linux Show) motivation for putting together this program was to help fund our Benevolent Penguin Society. The Society is already responsible for connecting 2 schools in low income areas to the internet, and is soon to launch a Linux Conversion Program to install Linux on old pentium and 486 computers for web surfing terminals for schools. $2.00 per month per dial up account will go into our fund for these good works projects."
