"Although it is the most famous and glamorous aspect of the internet, the world wide web is not the only thing the on-line world has to offer. This tutorial focusses on the workhorse of the protocol community, designed to shift huge quantities of data reliably around the 'net - ftp."

"The file transfer protocol, as its' name suggests, is used to transfer files between two machines across the internet. There are (typically) two main facets to this:"

"Anonymous ftp: Anyone can log in using just the username anonymous and their e-mail address as a password. They can download from the /pub directory and upload files to certain directories on the server."
