"Sun declined to provide details on why it turned down ECMA's latest proposal, which ECMA issued on Feb. 8. Paolini writes that ECMA's proposal "does not provide the necessary assurances and safeguards that are needed to protect the interests of Sun, the Java community and ECMA."
