"Today, Wednesday May 17th, 2000, I had the pleasure of attending the Linux Canada Conference & Exposition with one of my friends from #LinuxGroup. Since this was my first time attending a conference and Linus was giving the keynote speech, I was fairly excited."
"The Exhibit itself wasn't like I expected. I had thought there would be stuff like t-shirts and stuffed penguins etc for sale, but there wasn't. Out of all the major distributions only Corel and Caldera had booths and were giving away free CDs. The Linux Journal was also there, handing out free copies of it's magazine. There were a couple of other booths, most of them demoing hardware that I could never even dream of affording, such as a $25,000US Epson Printer and a sweet $20,000 flat panel monitor."
"Linus, making his only canadian appearance, is probably what made today seem like it was not totally wasted. About 15 minutes before his speech, I first caught glipse of him about 10 feet away, giving an interview to the local news station."
