"Learning Tree International, Inc. (Nasdaq:LTRE) today announced its plans to release "Linux: A Hands-On Introduction," a new course focusing on how to use Linux to establish a productive desktop environment. This four-day course will provide extensive hands-on experience using desktop tools, downloading software from the Web, creating multimedia content for documents and performing key system administration tasks using graphical tools. Participants will learn how to configure a customized desktop; locate, download and install new Linux software; use graphical file managers and edit typical office documents, including spreadsheets."
"With the availability of many new business productivity tools and dramatic improvements in the graphical interface, Linux is rapidly gaining popularity in the desktop market," said John Moriarty, V.P. of Product Development for Reston, Va.-based Learning Tree. "This hands-on course will teach participants how to use Linux for daily tasks such as e-mail, word processing and Web browsing. It will also teach how to integrate Linux with Windows and perform basic administration," he added."
"Upon release, "Linux: A Hands-On Introduction" will join Learning Tree's existing UNIX Curriculum, which includes "Linux Installation, Configuration and Support," "Linux TCP/IP Networking and Services," "UNIX: A Hands-On Introduction," "Solaris: A Hands-On Introduction," plus 7 other courses on UNIX administration and programming."
