BW: Penguin Computing... Former Compaq Computer Material Planner to Oversee New Manufacturing Plant

Jun 30, 2000, 21:02 (2 Talkback[s])

"Penguin Computing Inc., leading provider of reliable Linux systems for Internet serving, today announced that Maria Riley has joined the company as manager of manufacturing for the company's new South Bay manufacturing plant."

"Riley has experience developing international supply-chain strategies for Fortune 100 companies, including Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE:CPQ), IBM (NYSE:IBM) and Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE:HWP). Her appointment is key to Penguin Computing's strategy to expand its competitive manufacturing capability -- improving installed quality while reducing cycle time and cost -- as the company continues to execute on its aggressive plan to expand domestically and overseas."

"From receipt of customer orders, Riley will oversee the entire manufacturing process at the plant in the southern San Francisco Bay area. That includes planning, material acquisition, physical transformation and shipping of finished systems. Riley's experience in successfully developing and implementing quality-control programs will help Penguin Computing maintain high standards of quality as it expands its capacity to meet growing demand for its highly reliable Linux servers."
