"It's time for proponents of DeCSS to adopt a new legal strategy against the movie industry efforts to squelch dissemination of the DeCSS program for decrypting movies distributed on DVD. Drop Freedom of Speech and hop on the anti-trust bandwagon."
"For several months now, the movie industry has mounted a pitched legal attack against an escalating number of web site operators offering downloads of DeCSS, which can be used to work around the encrypted copy protection scheme for movies distributed on DVD. The program can also be used on the Linux operating system to play lawfully purchased or rented DVD movies, technology otherwise currently not available on Linux."
"The ongoing battle has been staged primarily in the U.S., and in other countries. But as quickly as the movie industry obtains injunctions against one group of web sites, the involved program called DeCSS pops up on even more web sites, available for downloading. DeCSS proponents have adopted a strategy of making the download available on more web sites than the movie industry can stop with court orders. It now appears that DeCSS has metastasized so broadly across the internet that it can be fairly said it's too late to get the DeCSS genie back into the bottle."
