"Eric Raymond provides the reader with a lot of 'Wow, I never thought of that' and 'Hmm, that is a completely new way for me to look at this'. The single most important asset of the book is that it provides the reader with food for thought. Excellent food, and lots of it too."

"So, is there nothing to complain about? Sure there is. The book is typeset with a strange, large interline spacing. Which makes it unpleasant to read. And it is Linux-centric in no small way. A broader view on the world of Open Source would have made it a better book. For example taking into account the X Consortium, more on the FSF, the various X GUI and the BSD projects. After all there is more on this planet than just Linux. All the better, because a bit of competition keeps everybody sharp (can you say MicroSoft??)"
